"NES" question?? I have always loved Nintendo and started playing when their first NES system came out but, I was wondering if there are any gamers out there who could give me any info on the very first boxed set that came with Rob the robot? I mean, did this robot actually do anything except move around to make this new NES system more appealing to the early '80's buyers? (Did it add to the gameplay in some way?) Also, does anyone know what this set is worth in the original box? I would like to add this to my collection of Nintendo and was just wondering what the price should be if I go shopping on E-bay or something...(I would love to find one of these sets un-opened and in mint condition.) Any Nintendo experts out there who can help with these questions? Thanks in advance!! In the fallout of the video game crash of 1983, no retailers wanted anything to do with a home video game system. Nintendo President Yamauchi had ordered the US arm to release the NES in New York City, but they couldn't get any place to sell it. So they created ROB, bundled him into the system, and started a sales pitch to the retailers that it wasn't a video game system, but rather a robot. For some reason, this was enough to win the retailers over.
